The reason to slow down

The deadly Amanitas also have white spore prints. So when a pale gilled mushroom drops white spores, the next question is not what to cook, it is whether it has a sac at the base.

Warning

A white spore print plus free gills and a swollen base is the Amanita danger pattern. Dig up the whole base and rule out a volva before anything else.

White spores are one clue among several. Read them alongside the gills, the ring, and above all the base of the stem.
